Unfortunately years ago while I was near my I Clethra alnifolia, I smacked at it as it came near my face I was thinking it was a huge bug until it felt it's softness and realized it was definately not a bug Then I learned about them and bought it a feeder. It comes every year to feed on flowers only but I saw it up close this year,finally, it had green on the back, and a solid beautiful white throat and breast,&it is large, I wasn't sure what kind it was until I saw it from inside my home ,I watched it rest on a lilac branch next to the window. It shows up for the end of summer here for the last several years to feed on large +20 yr old, Summersweet shrubs, many types of Sedums,butterfly bushes,hostas,sages, Silvia,etc.
