I have observed this last weekend (9/6/2020) while in Shelby, MI by Lake Michigan.
We were camping and I saw 2 monarchs purposely heading south through the woods. That same day, sitting on a sand dune, I counted 6 more going south down the lakeshore while we sat there for 30 minutes. Migration in progress.
