In an early afternoon walk on the trail at Hickory Grove Park, I counted 8 monarchs nectaring on thistles, and 8 more in flight or on other plants. Surprised that none were nectaring on the sunflowers in the open fields at the park. Temperature close to 80 degrees, light south wind.
