Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/17/2020

Number: 2

The Wind was NW at 9 mph this morning with a sunny clear sky, so I went to the beach at Harrisville State Park along Lake Huron to see a possible migration. The Temperature was 50F. at 9:30 AM at the start of my count, and 56F. at the end of my count at 11:30 AM. I observed no monarchs. However, a camper told me he saw one on the beach at 7 AM! I then took a lunch break to 12:30 PM. Then I took a 2 mile walk under some cloud cover and saw no monarchs at the regular seven locations I scout. I returned to the beach as the Wind turned NE-13-20 mph with gusts to 25 mph at 2:15 PM. I saw no monarchs migrating to 3 PM. I went home to watch for monarchs on migration from my backyard patio, and saw none to 7 PM under a sunny sky. The Temperature did top out at 56F. Finally, my friend (Larry) saw a monarch along the 3rd Street walkway in town at 9 AM this morning. NOTE: A freeze warning is on for the morning. There was no freeze warning last year until October 26th!
