A late arrival of a commuting female makes our current count of hummingbirds at 3, with one very tame girl and her rival at the feeder. Almost every visit is spent as much nectaring at the salvia and fuscia, although with the deep cold snap tonight they maybe be less appetizing tomorrow. I just reviewed my data for fall departures for 18 years on journey north, and it varies between Sept. 24 to October 7.
