A scan of the sunflower field at about 5:15 pm yields a count of 30 monarchs in flight looking for landing spots to nectar. There are many more already on the flowers. Monarchs are flying back and forth, finding places to rest and roost in nearby trees. Temperature 78 degrees, south wind at 15 mph gusting to 20.
