My husband has been seeing around 5-6 hummingbirds feeding at the plants in our Garden. He is out in the yard more than I am. He told me that they seem to really be loading up at these plants--Turk's Cap,Salvia Heatwave Blaze, Salvia greggi "Wild Thing",Midnight Sage, They are fighting over our 3 Cigar Plants(David Verity) & our Trumpet Vine that we pruned into a Topiary. Our Cherry Chief's, Lipstick Salvias look pretty ragged. We had a severe drought this summer. My husband continues to think that drought tolerate plants do not need any supplemental watering. I think we may have to replant most of the front yard as Lipstick & our Cherry Chiefs are bone dry, brown & crunchy when you touch the leaves.I still trying to explain the difference. This Texas heat is brutal.
