2 adults in my yard. 1 was passing through. Theother was very new:I came home from work to Forty Fort, PA, Monday evening 9-21-20, & found a newly emergedmonarchbutterfly with wings not-completely unfurled. It was clinging to a daylily leaf on the shade side of garage. Notmoving. Out of the sun. I cut a butterfly bush flower sprig & brought it to him.It started eating right away. I carried it around on that flower to parts of the yard as the sun was setting, avoiding the long shadows., so it had at least some sunshine on its wings before nightfall. I put it in a relatively protected part of the bush near fresh flowers. Next day (Tues), it survived the unusual 30's low temps. YAY!. Before I left for work I put it on top of bush where it'd get firstsunlight. Came home from work Tues 9-22. It's gone, hopefully on its way South.
