Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/23/2020

Number: 10

Our usual are still with us today. Includes adult and juveniles, male and female. We maintain ten nectar feeders over 2 1/2 acres. We had a slow steady drought breaking rain a couple weeks ago. I watched a male ruby throat standing on a nectar feeder outside our window taking a shower for fifteen minutes. He held out his wings, raised his tail and preened in the rain. When he finished, he moved to his favorite perch in a nearby climbing rose (red of course) and continued preening.
