I saw thousands of Common Green Darners (Anax junius) heading south between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. At about 3:30 p.m., the numbers started tapering off, and the dragonflies started to move in a variety of directions, not just south. By about 4:15 p.m., very few of them were visible from my location, which was on a terrace outside of St. John's on the Lake, which is on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. Ideal location for watching insect migrations!
