("3" acres)
Property owners of a defunct family farm harvested about 3 acres of magnificent fields of primarily wild common milkweed that had fed my caterpillars since i started rearing Monarchs in mid-July. The field had been harvested for fodder in late June, then again this date. I had walked the field just two days prior and noticed how few pods were grown on all these tens of thousands of plants. COuld you tell me if that is a factor of the harvesting? The late July find of these milkweeds was during much flowering, but the pods now seemed to be lacking prior to the harvest. These fields may be doomed for development. I wish they could be green space for Monarchs and nature.
