The weather turned very cold after my last hummingbird sighting on September 16th, but warmed up yesterday. After a rainy morning and a warm afternoon, I was happy to see this hummingbird enjoying my salvia and cuphea. There was no feeder use again today. Often the last hummingbirds of the year use my flowers and not the feeders. I wonder if they were born in less populated areas north of here and have never seen a feeder before. I feel like I am being well rewarded each fall for planting some of their favourites every spring.
