Incredibly beautiful fall evening at Point Pelee National Park. 23c with very light easterly wind @9/16kmh. ; west side like glass. Daytime high 26c.
9 Monarchs seen at NW Beach before heading down to the Tip before 7:21pm sunset. 2 were nectaring on Woodland Sunflowers & were joined by 3 more, while within 15 minutes 4 others flew in from the north & continued south to the Tip.
Upon arriving at the Tip- I decided to walk the very long tip, turned and looked back and there was a monarch flying south over the sandy peninsula. It flitted over visitors at the very tip, did a U-turn & flitted back north toward land. 'Look! A butterfly!' One of them shouted. This one Monarch Butterfly deserved a video all it's own! I'm sure it was a test flight for tomorrow's departure. Only 2 additional monarchs seen at the Tip.
Also a sand bar with birds beyond the tip! And then the sunset! Savour the moments!

The weather has been favourable with warm temps & light winds to continue their journey south across the lake.
Strong south wind arrives 9/26 & continues 9/27 & a few days on & off next week.
