18 monarchs were nectaring, 13 on Symphyotrichum novae-angliae, 2 on S. oolentangiense, 2 on S. puniceum var. puniceum, and 1 on Liatris scariosa var. nieuwlandii. 5 monarchs were resting, 3 on an oak tree and 2 on a persimmon tree, both adjacent to my main aster bed. The observations were 3:45 to 4:00 pm. The wind was SW at an estimated 3-5 mph (no measurement available).
