At 5:15 pm we noticed a lone migrating monarch flying about 25-30 feet high through our backyard and over the lake behind our house. For a brief moment the sun was shining on it and I think that is what drew our eyes up to the bright orange. It was headed exactly south with current wind from the WNW at 12 mph. The weather was mostly cloudy and 61 degrees. We don’t usually see Monarchs flying that high!
