Hummingbird, Other Observations

Date: 09/29/2020

Number: 5

46 degrees this morning. Yesterday we received 1.75 inches of rain. Today is supposed to be partially sunny temperatures reaching 61-62 degrees.

There are 3 very rotund residents, and 2 thinner guests in the habitat. One resident is significantly more rotund than the other two :) Her favorite branch bounces when she lands due to her weight gain.

All spend more time in the floral smorgasbords than at the feeders. Large mass plantings of: lantanas, turtle heads, phlox, obedient plants, petunias, nasturtiums, salvia, tobacco, blue Lobelia, blue gloss flowers, cosmos, coral bells, a few indian pinks are reblooming, so is the Walkers Low catmint, after being cut back earlier this summer.

We usually have hummingbirds from May 6th or 8th through October 1st. May God bless our small friends and provide safe journeys--south and (back)in the spring of 2021.
