While sitting in the backyard, for 1 hour between 12:35-1:35pm, I observed a total of 32 adult monarchs. 29 were flying through the yard, without stopping, and 3 were nectaring on zinnias.

It was partly cloudy, the temperature was 63F and the winds were from the WNW at 11 mph.

The yard has a wooded area behind us and a treeline running along our property in a southwesterly direction. The monarchs were flying along the tree line, possibly shielded from the wind, by the treeline.
