Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/27/2020

Number: 1

Observation time was from 7pm till 7:40pm. Temperature was 68 degrees at the time with no wind and cloudy overcast. The high temperature for the day was 73 degrees with overnight lows expected to drop to 46 degrees and expected rain at midnight. Only one lone female hummer was sighted hitting upon just one of our feeders around 7:25pm. She sat and drank for several minutes before flying over into a nearby dense evergreen tree and not seen again. Normally we'd still have plenty of floral offerings for migrating hummers at this time of year but most of our usual offerings were a week early in blooming and quickly died off, with the exception of our Rose of Sharon bushes and Mexican sunflowers which our since departed regulars loved. With such reduced numbers now being late season travelers we will leave our feeders out with fresh offerings for two weeks from our last dated sighting of a hummer.
