Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/29/2020

Number: 145

Monarchs began coming through at 10 this morning as the day warmed up. They have been increasing in numbers throughout the day. Now I see as many as five at a time feeding on Greggs Blue Mist plant. At this time ( 5:30 P.M.) I have seen at least 100.

I had seen a post on your site saying the monarch were in Enid OK on the 24th so I was watching for them. We had a cold front come through Sunday. I saw two flying south and low to the ground at 10 AM. They gradually increased through the day.

I have large gardens with native plants and I saw about five or six feeding in each garden. They were especially concentrated on Gregg's Blue Mist plant. I have a wooded area north of my house and they were flying through it. I only saw a few yesterday (9/30) and none today (10/1).

Several years ago a large number came through and roosted in the woods for about four days. The pictures from Kansas sighting was similar. I've been watching them for at least 50 years, I'm really worried we're losing them. It seems each year we have less here.
