Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/29/2020

Number: 11

This one of a surprising number of Monarch that were in our field of Common milkweed. We have had Monarchs in the field all of July, August and September. On the 21st Sept we had a killing frost (-3 C) and most of the milkweed wilted. The number of Monarch in the field dropped from 30 to 1 overnight. I mowed down most of the milkweed in the next few days. This day I did a survey and found the eleven active all around the milkweed that was left. We have had very warm weather and it must have triggered these eclosures.
