Very vibrant male nectaring on New England Asters in front garden. Southwest wind 230 degrees at 13 km per hour, partly cloudy. Fog this morning at 08:00. Appeared that he was hanging around waiting for more favourable wind. Available nectar sources nearby include waning Goldenrod, and a good crop of New England Asters this year. This is the first Monarch I have seen in our yard in over a month that wasn't captive reared. Monarchs are conspicuous in their absence this year. Very sad.
