Again after going just one day without a hummingbird sighting another southward migrator appeared at our highly visible dining room bow windows. This plump little female was seen hitting on our late blooming Malva planted at our house foundation base. She then rested for several minutes upon the low fence by the Malva and underneath our south hummer feeder. She made a trip to the hummer feeder drank quickly and then flew off southward. The time of her sighting was 4:50pm and the temperature was 57 degrees (also the high temp for the day, winds were out of the SSE at 4mph with cloudy overcast skies. As always, we reset our timeline of leaving our three feeders up and kept fresh for two weeks from this last sighting in case another late season migrator passes our way and needs a quick pick-me-up on their journey southward. Their antics and relaxing entertainment will be missed, but planning already begins for welcoming their return in spring 2021. Thank you to everyone involved with Journey North and reporting citizen scientists for a wonderful 2020 hummingbird season.
