It was 60 degrees when I got up this morning so, I had my morning coffee in the garden. Much to my surprise, a ruby throated hummingbird was sipping on the dark purple salvia. I didn't see him/her the rest of the day.
I'd like to imagine that s/he woke up, tanked up on salvia nectar and headed south.
This is the latest that I have seen hummingbirds in the fall.
