Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/27/2020

Number: 2

On Sept. 25 morning, I was surprised to see another(6th) new monarch butterfly fly up from the SE edge of our property into a crabapple tree.
Then, late afternoon as I was raking leaves and fallen crabapples, I noticed another (7th) new monarch butterfly in the leaves. It barely had its wings open and not fully extended yet (the empty chrysalis hung nearby, inside the open garage).
Thankfully, I was able to move it gently to a phlox patch in the flowerbed, where it stayed overnight and most Sept. 26.
By Sept. 27 morning, it was gone/flown away. Highs those days were: 22.7 C Sept. 25, 19.1 C Sept. 26, and 14.0 C Sept. 27; lows overnight were 2-3 C. So, once again, am amazed and thankful that we've had *7* monarchs in 2020!
