I have a quite a few milkweed in my yard: three multi-stemmed swamp milkweed plants,about 75 stems of butterfly weed, and three stems of common milkweed. There are now monarch larva on every milkweed in the yard. There are at least 100 caterpillars of various stages in the yard, maybe more.
