This is in late August. In June and July I do not see the Praying Mantises picking on the caterpillars. By August the mantis a lot larger now needs a bigger meal and here it is. In August I also see the ground wasps searching for traveling caterpillars. At this time, instead of crawling to nearby outbuildings where many early chrysalis form, I see more chrysalis right under the milkweed in the weeds. In the fall I will search for and relocate any mantis egg sacs I find.
