Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 10/01/2020

Number: 1

Surprise...Found a small caterpillar on a new plant in Allentown Rd. field. He was in Shed-mode. (The 1st of 6 that I found in this field at end of 2020 Season. *I was in this field to pick leaves for (2) others that I was feeding from Chestnut Hill Rd, where plants were not nice anymore. The Allentown Rd. field had been mowed a few weeks before, and new plants were popping up with warmer weather.
This caterpillar hatched into a beautiful "male" Monarch on 10/26/20. The weather was cold and rainy for over a week. He wouldn't eat at first, but finally did. When it got sunny and warmer, he flew free in the South on 11/4/20.
