Whooping Cranes. I saw about 25 Whooping Cranes flying South today in West Valley City, Utah (84118) at about 1:00 pm. I carefully studied what these birds could be and Im confident they were Whooping Cranes which I know doesnt sound right because they arent supposed to be here. At first I thought they were Canadian Geese but the call wasnt right. I went outside and thought they were Pelicans because they were white with black on their wings but they are usually silent and they dont make that sound. I looked with binoculars and they had long necks with long feet sticking straight back. I researched all over the web and found a site with a link on how to identify a Whooping Crane and everything fit the description with their appearance and calls
