Hummingbird, Rufous (FIRST)
Sightings report image

Date: 01/16/2021

Number: 2

My first-ever Rufous sighting, though I initially identified the two staying here as Ruby Throated hummingbirds for the past 7 days. It wasn't until I used binoculars that I saw the color difference. This is just fantastic to see Rufous birds and to have so many nectaring plants still blooming, even the yellow milkweeds, but especially the cuphea cigar plants that hummingbirds favor so much!
