Saw two monarch butterflies today on my walk.
Just passing through on the way to somewhere else.
The two sightings were made between 9 & 11:30am on 2/4/21. Temperature about 65 sunny degrees.
Sightings were in the Ocotillo Lakes section of Chandler, AZ, a suburban grassy area with small lakes and many flowers, even in winter.
Both sightings were near water.
I seldom see any type of butterfly in Arizona, let alone two similar butterflies some distance apart. I walk 5 miles daily in my neighborhood & only saw this type of butterfly on 2/4/21.
The butterflies were small and appeared faded and worn, as best as I could determine.
