Female Anna's hummingbird on the purple salvia. From my experience with purple salvia for the past 3 years and others on this site, I can say, if you have a choice at the garden center, get the purple! I currently have red and purple salvia on the patio and the purple is definitely preferred.

There are at least 5 hummingbirds around our feeders.
