Between Jan.24-31, I tagged and released 9 adult monarchs- 6 males and 3 females. The tags are from Southwest Monarch Study. In early December, I had collected them as 5th instars from milkweed in my yard and moved them to a protective rearing cage on my patio. I released them to blooming nectar plants in my yard. The weekly daytime temperatures ranged from the mid 40's in the morning to sometimes 72 degrees in the afternoon.
