around 9 or 10 RWBBs landed in my yard and were eating seeds which I had scattered under a couple of trees due to the extremely cold weather. It attracts juncos, assorted other sparrows, cardinals, etc.... But these males were hungry and dove right in. They have been back each day since, and seem to be making rounds in search of all the foodstuffs. They are probably scoping out territory, and may even be males from last year here: I have a large unmown grassy field, and each year around 5 males and something like 9 or 10 females set up shop. I'm so glad to see them again!! No calls yet, and no dominance displays. Pure flocking right now.
