I was amazed to see a robin dancing through the snow during our Big Chill of 2021. We were subfreezing for 4 straight days with snow/ice on 2 days, sustained snow onthe ground for almost a week, and we had a record low of 7F. The robins seemingly would not take flight but would run away if we got too close. I'm guessing they'd rather conserve their warmth in their wings and feathers.
