Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 03/05/2021

Number: 1

while I have seen a few small flocks of 20 or so red-winged blackbirds the past two days, this morning a flock of approximately 300 showed up in our backyard. Apparently they were feeding upon what wild bird seed and sunflower seeds they found on the ground that has scattered from our feeders. It was a sunny, chilly morning with temperatures around 27 degrees and very little breeze. Several times they retreated to the surrounding trees when a crow laned by the feeders, only to rain back down to the ground like black snow flakes. How very nice to hear the returning sounds of spring bird chirps and calls fill the air.
