During the unusual TX winter storm that covered everything in ice, and then several inches of snow and single digit temps, our man-made waterfall and pond stayed open. The Robin and Cedar Waxwing waves that had been passing through drank and bathed (despite the cold) in the water.
What I don't know is whether those waves were the same that had arrived weeks earlier, or new waves. Regardless, we found no dead birds in the yard once all was thawed out, and I was glad to see them surviving. In the days prior to the storm, they had been frantically eating Juniper berries.
