Signs of Spring

Date: 03/07/2021

Number: 1

Very large numbers of migrating White Fronted Geese an uncommon migrant here in southern Minnesota. Estimated several thousand(2K) and, Cackling geese, large numbers of Canada geese, a small group of Ross geese and small numbers of snow geese. By far the largest amount I have observed in my 40+ springs here. All sow cover is gone, ice on lake is very dark and pocked. All geese were along the SE shore for long periods, working the shallows thawed and mud flats emerged.
