Although red-winged blackbirds are supposed to be year-round residents here, I have never had one in my yard before. A female arrived around 3pm in the company of a bunch of common grackles (I have also never seen any grackles in my yard, though I often see them in other places around town). The red-winged blackbird was eating suet and seeds from my feeders.
