Hummingbird, Other Species Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 03/19/2021

Number: 1

Our immature (hatched in 2020) banded buff-bellied hummingbird (pictured) is still here. It has been with us every day, apparently all day, since we first spotted it in our backyard on 20 November 2020. It nectars from flowers and feeds at our sugar-water feeders. This is our first winter-resident buff-bellied hummingbird. It has been observed in our yard longer than any other hummingbird (last winter we had a rufous hummingbird that was here 3 months and 3 weeks).
