Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 03/21/2021

Number: 1

1 monarch laying eggs on the A. Asperula (interestingly, they are ignoring all the non-native milkweeds and preferentially selecting the Asperula. The non-natives, Currassivica, have an equivalent area of leaves).

This one Monarch was all I saw during a 15 minute observation period.

We still have few nectar sources here. The Bluebonnets are at least 80% in bloom, Bradford pears and Mexican plums are in bloom as are other native ornamentals. Still, it appears to still be early for flowers in this immediate area.
