Sightings report image

Date: 03/21/2021

Number: 1

This is a follow-up photo to my Monarch Adult Sighted report today. I do not know for sure what this milkweed is that the monarch is laying her egg on. She found several of these small plants, as well as our usual Asclepias viridis milkweed. I think it might be Asclepias verticillata (Whorled milkweed). This plant is very scarce here, but I have seen it in bloom and monarchs love to nectar from the tiny flowers. It is a mystery to me!
