Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 03/22/2021

Number: 7

In the morning I was busy inside, so only briefly went out in our front and back yard. I saw 3 monarchs flying low. It was lovely weather: 67 degrees F, cloudy, breezy, with 69% humidity (rain was predicted).

I went out from 1:30-2:20pm checking on milkweed and eggs. It was 70 degrees F, cloudy, still, and 62% humidity. I saw at least 3 individual monarchs flying & nectaring.

I began a milkweed & egg survey this afternoon at 3:30pm. I had to stop because of rain for awhile, then went back to it till 6:15pm. I planned to continue the count the next day exploring a few more areas of milkweed.

My focus was totally on looking at milkweed plants and examining them for the tiny eggs ~~ so I wasn't looking up and around too much for monarch activity. I did see a few monarchs flying around at times ~ one buzzed me, checking on me, checking on milkweed.

This is a photo of a male monarch today as he sips nectar from one of the delicate lavender Lyre-leaf sage flowers.
