Today was an overcast day in the mid-60's, breezy to gusty winds, and 90% humidity. That last because there was often a light misty rain falling. So I think the monarchs were laying low or staying dry in the trees generally. When I went outside, I would see a monarch nectaring on the yellow thistle or I might see one flying briefly. At one walk-around I spooked one resting in the wet grass and he/she flew to the leafy trees nearby.
Looking out my small kitchen sink window I had a lovely sight of a monarch flying against the wind, buffeted a bit, and the white petals of the pear tree blossoms (at the end of blooming) were being blown with the breeze ~~ it was like she was flying while it was snowing. I hurried outside trying to see her, but she had vanished.
I didn't get any monarch photos today. Not as many sightings, but also the light mist meant I often couldn't use my camera.
I did wander around looking at milkweed. I especially explored the sections I had not included in my March 22-23 milkweed/egg survey. I was really excited to see a lot of fresh healthy milkweed had emerged (that wasn't up until now). There was milkweed with eggs in those sections, but also a lot of new growth without eggs.
Lovely, misty, quiet day ~~ hoping to see more monarchs soon!
