Monarch Egg Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 03/24/2021

Number: 35

On this misty, windy, cool day I was pleased to see many milkweed with eggs & many newly emerging milkweed as well. In one interesting example I found 9 individual plants radiating outward in a circle from a central point ~ the diameter of this circle was about 16 inches. This is one way Asclepias viridis can manifest. There were 35 eggs on those 9 plants. (These were in a section not counted on my March 22-23 milkweed/egg survey.)

1 had 1 egg
1 had 2 eggs
2 had 3 eggs
2 had 4 eggs
1 had 5 eggs
1 had 6 eggs
1 had 7 eggs

This is a photo of one of the plants in the circular group ~ with eggs on its leaves and crown.
