This is our first spring migrant ruby-throated hummingbird that is not an adult male (our first spring migrant male appeared on 12 March 2021). It is either a female or (more likely, based on the date) an immature male. It is nectaring from Starfire pink cuphea in a hanging basket. We saw 4 hummingbirds on 24 March 2021, including the one in the photo, 2 adult male ruby-throated hummingbird (one a winter resident, the other a spring migrant), and our buff-bellied hummingbird.
