Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 04/06/2021

Number: 1

So excited! I saw my very first robin of the season in our backyard today perched for a few minutes in our crab apple tree. I am quite certain it is the same "dark headed" female robin that spent last spring/summer) in our neighbourhood (2020) & had two successful nests. I am so happy she survived both the Fall & the Spring migration to return back to our neighbourhood this year!! She arrived over two weeks later this year compared to last year (I saw her for the first time last year on March 19). Interesting that last night we had our very first thunder & lightening storm of the year!! Do robins migrate in following the warmer air?! This past Fall we did not have the bumper crop of Mountain Ash berries that we had last year. Could this be the reason why the robins arrived so much later this year? (I saw my first male robin last year on March 3). Last Spring, we still had Mountain Ash berries left on our trees well into May but that's not the case this year - they were all gone by the end of last Fall. Looking forward to hearing my first true song!
