Ice-Out

Date: 03/15/2021

Number: 1

we are new to the twin cities of Waterville and Winslow, so we have no history of ice dates on the Kennebec River. winter 2020 - 2021 never produced real ice on the river here. however, for a few days at the end of February and early March a skim of ice formed below the 2 cent bridge. we noted dog or coyote tracks and otter tracks creeping in minimal soft snow from the Winslow (east) shore toward center channel, but no tracks actually crossed the thin ice to the western shore. although ice sheets remained in eddies for many days, the center channel was free of ice again on 15 MAR 2021.
