Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 04/09/2021

Number: 8

I saw a few monarchs fly through the yard in the past 3-4 weeks. Having planted some milkweed about two weeks ago, I found 8 tiny caterpillars today. I have them in a butterfly container with potted parsley. They are feasting on the parsley now. My excitement is hard to contain right now! I think there may be more eggs on the two very small milkweed plants. There are lots of flowers waiting for them when they emerge from their chrysalis. Last year, I successfully raised a black swallowtail, and my granddaughter witnessed the release. She was really happy and wanted to see more, so I decided to make a butterfly garden so we could share that experience again. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined Monarchs!
