Loon (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/12/2021

Number: 1

This loon has graced our lake for the past 3 years. We watched it grow from a fledgling to adulthood. When still a youngster this loon went down under water suddenly and we feared it had been taken, most likely by a snapping turtle that many frequent this lake. It was more than 20 minutes later I observed it pop up but it had trouble with its leg. It kept flexing it by swinging it around and around. We were overjoyed when it returned the following year with its parents and the next year too. Today is the 1st sighting, so we look forward to the parents' return soon as well.
