Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/17/2021

Number: 1

Our first female showed up at one of our feeder on 04/16/2021.

The system would only allow me to put in this date though.

They normally show up this time every year. Now we're just waiting for the rest of clan to get here.
Last year we didn't have as many as the year prior although we still had a lot more than many other people I talked to.
However, the year prior in 2019 we had so many at our feeders we couldn't keep up. I had to go out and purchase 6 more feeders that year to add to all the other's I already had here at the house. We probably had 50-100 Hummingbirds that year. I don't even know honestly there were so many at so many feeders swarming I couldn't even count if I wanted to.
I tried to count on just 1 feeder one time and there were over 35 just trying to get one one large feeder!
Also for anyone who happens to read this I have no special juice, I DO NOT EVER USE RED FOOD COLORING EVER so don't use it you don't need it it's not good for them!
Just a little FYI when they do get banned they also get a little check-up and they can tell which birds have drank from feeders with red food dye because it turns their urine red too! It's not good for the Hummingbirds ladies and gentlemen, but that's not all, because the red food dye turns their urine red it's also hard to tell if our favorite little birds have infections because it's hard to differentiate between blood in the urine and red food coloring.
So if people would just STOP using it all together it would be a lot easier! Just your little PSA for the day!
I banned Hummingbirds out in Arizona and learned a lot, but that's the one thing I tell everyone! Stop using the Red Food Dye you don't need it!
They will come to your feeders with just sugar and water! You don't even have to buy any solutions at the store make your own they like it much better! Trust me!
It was so much fun!
Hoping this year in another year like 2019 maybe even better!
